Access private experiments in HarnesstomDB

Data availability and policy release

Project and trial metadata, as well germplasm, accession passport and genotyping platform metadata will be always public in HarnesstomDB. Trial associated data (i.e. studies, phenotypic, images, genotype and variant data) are either 'public' or 'private'. HarnesstomDB is an EU-public one-stop-shop database, which will ensure that all results will be accessible. However, in order to protect intellectual property before publication, trial associated data will be kept private until the specified release date. In principle, the private status of a trial only allows the submitter and HarnesstomDB administrators to have access to the data. The other users only can view trial metadada, but not the rest of the information associated to a private trial. Submitter can share access to a private trial with other users. Follow the instructions here to share trial access.

Trial associated data will be public when the specified release date is reached or the submitter e-mail us that the data can be public.

Edit, add or remove data in a private experiment

Submitters have the option to access all their private experiments. When you submit, you get rights to edit and remove your data. This requires to be logged in. These post-submission modifications are done via the HarnesstomDB gateway. Post-submissions modifications include:

    • Edit or up-date an object uploaded in the database
    • Delete an object uploaded in the database
    • Create a new object

Metadata and data modification can’t be done in bulk, it must be done one by one from the edit application forms. To modify an object in HarnesstomDB select the appropriate term from the menu and press search. HarnesstomDB will show the list of all objects matching the searching term. From the list, select the object you want to modify, click on details and then click on edit button. This will open the edit form. Edit forms have the same format than create. See HarnesstomDB v1.0 create application guide. Modify the fields you need in the forms and press update button. The changes will be visible in HarnesstomDB automatically.

To add a new object to an existing trial associated data, select the appropriate term from the menu and press create. Follow the instructions in HarnesstomDB v1.0 create application guide.

Get access to a private trial

If you are a submitter, you can find an option in the trial edit form to share with other person a trial associated data (i.e. studies, phenotypic, images, genotype and variant data). This requires first, to be logged in and second, that the person with whom you want to share the data is registered as a user in HarnesstomDB. Once you are logged in, search for the trial you want to share, click on details and then click on edit button and select from the Shared with field the person to whom you want to share data.
